CNN International and the Kirloskar Group have signed a three year advertising partnership around the network's ‘GOING GREEN' initiative. The commercial association complements the Kirloskar Group's ongoing commitment to providing Green technology solutions to meet the energy needs of today's world. The sponsorship includes 30 second promos around a dedicated week of coverage in December and CNN's half-hour special, ‘Going Green: The Climate Summit'. Online, Kirloskar will run co-branded banner advertisements across the networks flagship ‘Going Green' website, www.cnn.com/goingreen. Speaking on the commercial tie up with the Kirloskar group, William Hsu, Vice President, News Advertising Sales, CNN International said, "We are delighted to welcome Kirloskar as our global sponsor for CNN's 'Going Green' initiative. The campaign is a compelling mix of brand and product advertising and will extend Kirloskar's brand footprint to connect with CNN International's upscale audiences across Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa. It will also reach audiences globally via CNN.com." "Kirloskar is focused on Green - in thought, vision and deed. Kirloskar's support to the green cause has been immense throughout the past decade. It provides Green technologies to meet energy needs from bio mass, oil & gas power plant equipment and standby power solutions, and refrigeration and air-conditioning. With its emphasis on Green, it was natural for Kirloskar to sponsor CNN's 'Going Green' initiative." Vijay Varma, Managing Director, Kirloskar Proprietary Limited, said, "This is an opportunity that allows us to reach a relevant audience and increase awareness of the benefit of Green energy. It's not enough to talk the talk. You need to inspire and get more like minded people to join such Green initiatives. Partnering with CNN is one such initiative to bring together communities focused on Green." The UN Climate Conference 2009 in Copenhagen marks the culmination of CNN's year long coverage around environmental issues. From Monday, December 7 until Friday, December 11, CNN will air a series of reports and live programming from Copenhagen in the lead up to the year's most crucial event in the environmental calendar, as global minds meet to make an action plan to address climate change for when the Kyoto protocol expires in 2012. CNN's global network of correspondents will take a look at what government, businesses and individuals around the world are doing to make a difference regarding issues such as fuel emissions, people/poverty, water, business and land/ deforestation. CNN.com will offer special report to accompany the on-air initiative at www.CNN.com/goinggreen, which will include story galleries, commentaries and more.
