CNN.com Live shatters daily video streaming record

THE INAUGURATION OF BARACK OBAMA

According to early data, as of January 20th at 3:30 pm (U.S. ET), CNN.com generated more than 136 million page views, while CNN.com Live served more than 21.3 million live video streams globally, shattering its all time total daily streaming record set on Election Day with 5.3 million live streams. (Source: Omniture SiteCatalyst, global).

Additionally, CNN.com Live estimates it served more than 1.3 million concurrent live streams during its peak, which occurred immediately prior to President Obama's inaugural address. (Source: Internal CDN monitoring data).

THE MOMENT

CNN enlisted iReporters to help create a unique view of the exact moment U.S. President Barack Obama took the oath of office. Using Microsoft Photosynth technology, CNN and Microsoft Corp. produced the first "synth" of a major historical moment.  Photosynth, part of the Microsoft Virtual Earth product family, enables users to create synths, detailed 3-D environments of photos that are identified by minute similarities and then fused together. In this case, the initial images comprise those captured on cell phones, cameras and mobile devices by inauguration attendees of the moment Obama was sworn in as President. From the vast sweep of the crowd to a close-up on the new President's raised hand, every angle of this historic moment was frozen in time. To view the synths please go to www.cnn.com/themoment
